                   Projects, as I classify, may have two approaches:

   ----> Top Down Approach
   ----> Bottom up Approach



Top Down Approach:

                          In this approach we actually give more importance to the idea. May be that we are at an amateur (beginners) or well-versed in electronics; your idea has got more importance. We build the circuit around the idea. We look in for the components that suit the requirement. We keep on modifying components until we reach our requirements.

As an example I can go with…………

                Like I have seen a project at *********, the idea was to indicate the user when the tank is full-(they called it water level indicator!!)

Now I lost into thoughts can I make further improvements over this???

                                          Ya, what if I could indicate the user when tank is empty!!!!!!!???

                Hurrah!! The ideas is great .now I started thinking of componentswhich would fit my ideas!

               In the process I started thinking a device which can indicate me if reach above a particular value and also below a particular value…….. (Hey! I remember my lecturer while teaching Schmitt trigger spoke something same “it changes above UTP and below LTP”)

And that’s my basic idea………….that’s how I built my

                                     Automatic Water Tank Filler –by *********************!!!(there were several modifications later, of course)

Doesn’t that sound great with your name (what more do we need??!!!!!)



Bottom up Approach:

                          In this approach we actually have the basic circuit with us and we build an application around it!! This also involves great thinking(anything isn’t possible without thinking!!!)

As an example I give another project of mine……………

Well then, I was studying my multivibrators (I love them, think you would too if you know how great they can be exploited!!!)

Then came Monostable Multivibrator!!! Now I wanna make a project using this

I didn’t know what to do……………….

I started thinking of its working…(what I have said building application around the circuit is this!!!)

“when a trigger is given it works for some time and goes off after certain time(the time constant!!)” so I applied my thoughts if I fix this to my door I would give the connection in such a way that if someone touches the thing that would give a trigger and the output I have given to a buzzer

Thus how I have made BURGLAR ALARM!!(though there are problems like,I had to use another cc coupler for driving the buzzer and more over it gets off after the time constant…………..

                That never made me feel bad for I have made MY OWN PROJECT WITH MY OWN IDEA!!!!

Use of projects

Doing projects can help you to

·         Get Command on the subject , only the possible way

·         Present them at different colleges and win laurels!

·         Can fit into your resume!!!

·         You can get into internships at IIT’s where you can get a stipend too (you can have your first earning!!!).There is lot of competition you         have to prove to get into it!

·          satisfy yourself (nothing in the world can do it)

·         Be beyond others of your own class!!!

How to start a project???

                        My only suggestion is to get down with some paper work with either of the approaches

You can go through the previous projects to get ideas!!!!

                Don’t start buying components (as we did) .sketch out your plan and only then buy the components
