IBM has jumped onto the bandwagon, to be in the same league as Microsoft, Oracle, Google and others to offer a cloud based office suite, sources reported.
Company insiders said that it is in the way to develop a hosted version of its Lotus Symphony office suite, folding into its LotusLive set of hosted business offerings.
The Lotus Symphony reportedly, has under it word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software’s whose online versions are expected to be out in the second half of 2011, sources informed.

The new version reportedly shall comprise of new features around online collaboration. The hosted application shall help users in different geographical spaces to work on the same document simultaneously. Managing revisions and adding comments will be possible on a live document through this app.
According to sources,IBM shall offer the Lotus Symphony at no cost, as it is based on open source OpenOffice code base. But the hosted version will not be free; instead it will be a paid option within the Lotus Live service of IBM.
The company has also launched Social Business Framework, a tool for connecting social networking applications to enterprise applications.
